NEW! Summer Dance Intensive - Advanced Level
August 2-20, 2010
Three weeks of intensive training for aspiring professionals with internationally renowned instructors and choreographers!
This August Ballet BC and Arts Umbrella are joining forces to create a NEW! Advanced Summer Intensive Program for ages 17+. This exciting program designed for the auditioning dancer will help develop skills for entrance into the professional dance world. Over an intensive 3 week period dancers will train in ballet, pointe, modern, Ballet BC repertoire, improvisation and the creative process. This program is in connection with the successful Arts Umbrella Summer Dance Intensive that for years has been bringing high calibre contemporary ballet training to students across Canada.
Past instructors of the Arts Umbrella Summer Dance Intensive include: Glenn Gilmour F.I.S.T.D. (C.S.B.) (The National Ballet School), Risa Steinberg (Limon Technique), Donna Krasnow (Limon Technique), Alexandra Wells (The Juilliard School), Maya Adam (Ballet Dresden), Raymond Hilbert (Ballet Dresden), Thomas Klein (Compania Nacional de Danza de Nacho Duato), Lesley Telford (Netherlands Dance Theatre), Roberto Campanella (Proartedanza), Eric Miles (BJM Danse), Michael Trent (Artistic Director, Dancemakers), Bev Aitchison (L’Ecole Supérieure de Dance), Sidra Bell (Sidra Bell New York), Andrea Miller (Artistic Director Gallim Dance) and Francisco Martinez (The Juilliard School and Alvin Ailey School).

*Admission to Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) is by audition only. Open auditions will take place in Vancouver on March 21, 2010. If you are unable to attend in person, you may audition by DVD. Selections will be made by Arts Umbrella Artistic Director, Dance, Artemis Gordon and Ballet BC Artistic Director, Emily Molnar.

Key Dates:
March 15, 2010:
Final application deadline. All audition applications and fees must be received at Arts Umbrella by this date.
March 21, 2010:
10am-12pm live audition in Vancouver at Arts Umbrella, 1286 Cartwright Street, Granville Island.
April 6, 2010:
Application deadline for DVD audition submissions.
April 12, 2010:
Successful applicants notified via email by this date. Online registration begins. Registration details will be available in early 2010.
June 11, 2010:
Eligible bursary applications based on financial need and supporting documentation due.
July 2, 2010:
Registration deadline for successful applicants. Payment in full is due by this date.
August 2, 2010 (BC Day):
First day of Summer Dance Intensive. Orientation and placement classes begin at 9:00 am in the Granville Island studios. Regular classes will commence in the afternoon.
