Director of Marketing and Development

Ballet British Columbia, a $3 million professional contemporary ballet company, is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Director of Marketing and Development.
 

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities

  • - All aspects of six+ member marketing & development department and $1.8 million in revenue
  • - Inspire, coach and lead the board of directors towards successful fundraising solicitation in corporate sponsorship and individual giving
  • - Provide leadership, coaching and guidance for department managers: marketing, (subscriptions, single tickets, promotions), media relations/publications, guest services, individual investment (membership, Founders’ Council, endowment and planned giving), corporate sponsorship and special events.
  • - Responsible for developing and monitoring annual budgets and project plans
  • - Directly responsible for Gaming and Foundation applications.
  • - Work with Executive Director, Artistic Director and other senior managers on long-range plans

Qualifications

  • - 3-5 years management experience in the non-profit sector
  • - 3-5 years experience working directly in performing arts marketing communications & fundraising including experience planning and co-ordination of subscription & single ticket campaigns, promotions, integrated communications plans, membership campaigns, donor-affinity circles, endowment campaigns. Experience in performing arts touring and media relations also helpful.
  • - University graduate
  • - Solid understanding of professional dance; experience working for a professional dance company preferred
  • - Experience working with boards of directors and volunteer committees.
  • - Strong organizational skills, professional presentation, strong work ethic
  • - Strong written and verbal communication skills; solid budgeting skills
  • - Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle
