“Romeo and Juliet remains an enduring masterpiece and one of the leading balletic achievements of the 20th century. Jean Grand-Maître’s narrative ballet is a romantic tragedy where the audience is sure to experience the burgeoning passion and raw sexuality between the two star-crossed lovers.” John Alleyne

One of the pinnacles of 20th century ballet and certainly one of the best loved works of choreographer Jean Grand-Maître, Romeo and Juliet captures the tragic tale of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers with breathtaking spectacle and heartbreaking intimacy. This original work is set to the orchestral genius of Sergei Prokofiev, whose composition of Romeo & Juliet has been referred to as the greatest ballet score ever composed.

“Grand-Maître has re-created some parts of the ballet with such unique beauty… sheer moments of brilliance... overall design of this production is tightly knit and cohesive… the numerous high-points that make one wish to see it a second time.” Tim Martin, Dance Europe Magazine (London, April 2000)
