Dancer Chien-Shun Liao

Chien-Shun Liao (He/him) is originally from Taichung, Taiwan. He started his dance journey at the age of 11 and graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts. During his studies, he performed established works by notable choreographers including Hwai-Min Lin, Chung-Lung Cheng, Jérôme Bel, and Simone Wierød. He also contributed to original creations by artists like Hung-Chung Lai, Zhang Xiao-Xiong, Need Company, Peter Chu, and Jianhui Wang. Chien-Shun gained recognition for his role in Hung Dance’s Watcher, earning the 3rd prize and Critic’s Choice Award at the Hannover Choreography Competition in 2017. He continued to join  One Hundred in Shanghai in 2021. From 2019 to 2023, he was a member of Company Wayne McGregor, expanding his artistic horizons. Chien-Shun is excited to be joining Ballet BC for the 2023/24 season.
