Kaiya Hara-Lee

Kaiya Hara-Lee was born and raised in Toronto, Canada beginning her training at the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre in Toronto, Canada in their pre-professional dance company performing various works including Roderick George, Jennifer Archibald and Jose Limon. She has then continued her studies at a post secondary training program at Arts Umbrella under the direction of Artemis Gordon where she had the opportunity to work with Crystal Pite and Kidd Pivot and performed works by Marco Goecke, William Forsythe, Fernando Hernando Magadan, Mats Ek, Azure Barton and Crystal Pite. Kaiya was selected to perform in Ballet BC’s 2023/24 season production of HERE, featuring Bolero X by Shahar Binyamini. She has also participated in numerous festivals, including Fall for Dance North and the José Limón International Dance Festival. Additionally, she engaged in a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts with Jera Wolfe and attended summer intensives such as Jacob’s Pillow, where she learned repertoire by Wayne McGregor and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Entering her third year at Arts Umbrella, Kaiya is excited to join Ballet BC Annex for the upcoming season.
