Kate Baines (She/Her) began her professional dance training in 2018 at the Tanya Pearson Academy in Sydney, Australia. During her time there, Kate participated in intensives with Alvin Ailey (2018) and the New Zealand School of Dance (2019). She also competed at the Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix (2019) and engaged in a secondment at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. In 2021, Kate joined Arts Umbrella in the post-graduate program and has been fortunate to learn and perform repertoire from choreographers including Marco Goecke, William Forsthye, Crystal Pite and Johan Inger, as well as new creations of Ethan Colangelo, Paxton Ricketts and Adam Khazhmuradov. Aside from her studies, Kate took the time to engage with her local dance community in Australia, teaching dance classes for young children and teenagers.
