Sophia Makarenko (she/her) was born on Bowen Island, BC. She has been dancing since age 4 and has danced with a few different studios in the Vancouver area. Her dance training was focused on classical ballet until the age of 12 when she chose to explore different ways of moving. Sophia joined Arts Umbrella in 2019, joining the Pre-Grad program and then continuing in the Graduate program. She is thrilled to be a part of the Ballet BC Annex program. Aside from dance, Sophie enjoys spending time outside doing things like hiking and kayaking.
