Zack Sommer (he/him) was born in San Diego, California where his creativity and love for movement led him to dance at an early age. He received a diverse dance education at Danceology Performing Arts Campus before starting at The Juilliard School. He is currently a senior and will graduate with a BFA in Dance in May of 2024. During his time there, Zack has performed repertoire by Medhi Walerski, Aszure Barton and Ohad Naharin, and new creations by Jamar Roberts, Rena Butler, and Tiler Peck. Zack has also furthered his training at summer programs including Ballet BC’s 44 Summer Intensive, Springboard Danse Montreal, Orsolina 28, Jacob’s Pillow, b12 Summer Festival, and Arts Umbrella International Summer Dance Intensive, where he was able to study the works of Crystal Pite, Paul Lightfoot/Sol León, Jiří Kylián, Marco Goecke, and William Forsythe and create new works with Ethan Colangelo, Akira Yoshida, and Helen Pickett. Zack is fortunate to have been named a SPOTLIGHT Grand Prize Finalist in Non-Classical Dance, a Scholarship Recipient for Laguna Dance Festival, and a National YoungArts Foundation Award Winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance. Zack is thrilled to be joining Ballet BC as a Guest Artist.
