To all friends of Ballet BC:
Thank you for the overwhelming amount of support that you have provided Ballet BC over the last week. We hope that you are using this time to focus on your well-being, safety, and that of your loved ones. All of us at Ballet BC are following the COVID-19 crisis closely, as our priority is the health of our patrons, artistic and administrative teams.
Today, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the remainder of our 2019/20 season. This includes our performances of Ohad Naharin’s Hora and Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar’s Bill in Program 3, in addition to our performances of Romeo + Juliet at the Sydney Opera House. This decision was made out of compliance and caution to recommendations and mandates from the Province of British Columbia, the City of Vancouver, and the New South Wales Government.
These cancellations will be devastating on the financial health of our organization, representing more than $500,000 in lost revenue. We will need the support of our whole community in the coming months. Your donations, season subscriptions, and social engagement are just a few ways that you can make a difference.
TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS
If you are a subscriber, Ballet BC will be contacting you in the coming days with details on ticket donations, exchanges or refunds for your Program 3 tickets. Your continued dedication as members of our audience is paramount, and we appreciate your patience. We look forward to sharing next season’s inspiring programming with you.
TO OUR TICKET BUYERS
If you purchased single tickets to Program 3, Ticketmaster will automatically refund the full cost of the ticket and fees to the original purchaser’s credit card. Customers can expect to receive their refund within 30 days.
Ballet BC values your patronage greatly, but would be remiss not to mention that these unprecedented times are uniquely challenging. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to Ballet BC for the value of your tickets.
TO OUR COMMUNITY
Now, more than ever, the arts community in Vancouver needs your support. Over the last week, we have seen performances cancelled, art galleries close, and events and festivals postponed. It is difficult to predict the impact this will have on the Canadian arts sector.
Make a Tax-Deductible Donation: Secure our future and ensure that Ballet BC will return next season, stronger than ever.
Become a Monthly Donor: Provide stability as your monthly gifts will help sustain operations over one year.
Join our Legacy Circle: A gift of this magnitude will help shape the future of dance and will share this art form with many generations to come.
Spread the word: Advocate on behalf of Ballet BC and other arts organizations in the city. Share the work of the people that create culture in our society: our artists.
We want you to know that Ballet BC is committed to you. We thank you for standing by us in these difficult times and we look forward to returning as resilient and innovative as ever in our 2020/21 season.
