Development Coordinator

Ballet BC is seeking an adaptable, enthusiastic individual with a passion for the performing arts to assist in its fundraising activities on a full-time basis. The Development Coordinator will support the Development Manager to ensure the successful execution of Ballet BC’s annual fundraising campaign, be responsible for the coordination and execution of development events and manage the donor database in a fast-paced growing organization.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and manage donor records and database, focusing on thorough and accurate entry, timely recognition and acknowledgement, and engaging communication;
  • Administration of donations and donor database;
  • Planning and execution of all special events with focus on event logistics;
  • Assisting with production of communications and mailings to maintain excellent donor stewardship and solicitation;
  • Assisting with the logistics of the annual fundraising campaign;
  • Coordination of annual silent auction including prize solicitation and design & production of promotional materials;
  • Prospect research for sponsors and donors;
  • Solicitation of in-kind donations;
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Ensure the ethical handling of all confidential donor, sponsor and prospect information.

Bookkeeper (part-time)

Ballet BC is seeking an experienced part-time Bookkeeper who has the skills, initiative and personality to join our team. Reporting to the part-time Controller, this is an “in office” role, our office is located at 601 Smithe Street, and is expected to require an average of 18-20 hours per week.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform full cycle bookkeeping using QuickBooks / Excel;
  • Accounts Payable: process vendor invoices and expense reports, generate timely payment, management of manual and electronic authorization of payments;
  • Accounts receivable: prepare invoices, post payments, collection activity on unpaid balances, preparation and processing of bank deposits;
  • Banking: complete bank and credit card reconciliations; responsible for Petty Cash;
  • Payroll: assist with payroll processing;
  • Organize / maintain financial files and internal accounting records in a paperless file system;
  • Deal with bank, insurance agents or CRA or other government agencies when requested;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Intern: Patron Services Enhancement

Ballet BC is seeking an intern to analyze the current patron experience, research patron services in the arts, and design, as well as begin implementation of a patron services enhancement program.

Specifically, the intern would address:

  • Evaluation of current ticket buyers, subscribers & donors (determine tiers of patron enhancement; create target segments for personal attention)
  • Evaluate customer service delivery & capacity at BBC
  • Propose patron enhancement deliverables for different tiers
  • Develop a plan (short-term & long-term) for patron enhancement to be executed; include resources needed for plan execution
  • Develop a measure of success for the patron enhancement program
  • Begin to execute the patron enhancement program

Full-Time Artists

Ballet BC is seeking experienced female and male dancers interested in a diverse, collaborative environment that focuses on the innovation and creation of contemporary dance. The artist should display strong classical training, have experience in contemporary dance and a passion for the creative process.
 
Apprentice Positions

Ballet BC is looking for talented, young female and male graduates who have completed a professional training program to join the Ballet BC Apprentice Program. The program will take place between July 2018 and June 2019 and will provide apprentices with a weekly honorarium.
 

2018 Open Auditions: Vancouver and New York

Ballet BC will be holding the following open auditions for the 2018/19 season in New York City and Vancouver.

Audition Requirements

The audition will consist of ballet class and learning of company repertoire. Dancers should bring their CV and two photos (one headshot and one full-body, marked with dancer’s name), and audition fee in cash. Ladies, please bring pointe shoes.

Vancouver Auditions

All other Vancouver auditions are by appointment only. Please email a CV, photos, and video links to auditions (at) balletbc.com.

CV: Including training, performance experience, full name, email address, phone number, and citizenship.

Photos: One head shot and one full-body dance photo.

Video: Link to high-quality stage or studio video, no more than 10 minutes in length, that displays a range of repertoire in contemporary ballet. Ladies should include use of pointe work.

We welcome and encourage dancers from across Canada.

Auditions take place at Scotiabank Dance Centre, 677 Davie Street.
