This season, we look forward to sharing with you a collection of new works including four world premieres from a range of choreographers who are creating for the most prestigious stages in the world. It is also a season of firsts—our first spent in our new home on Granville Island, our first time bringing mainstage performances to the Greater Vancouver region (hello, Surrey!), and our first introduction of new, more intimate venues for programs like Take Form and RWB’s Nutcracker.

We open with HERE, featuring a brand new creation from Stephen Shropshire, Shahar Binyamini’s epic BOLERO X, and the return of William Forsythe’s powerful Enemy in the Figure. Next, NOW offers world premieres from rising star Micaela Taylor and Vancouver’s own Out Innerspace, plus Crystal Pite’s The Statement, back by hugely popular demand. The season concludes with FOR EVER, an evening of my own work where I will share a new creation in addition to SWAY and Chamber—both new to the company’s repertoire. Take Form also makes a comeback, offering our dancers the unique opportunity to delve into all aspects of production and enhance their choreographic skills.

Dance does not only concern beauty, it concerns substance and depth. The twenty dancers who will embody these works are extraordinary artists who possess the ability to transcend the mundane and bring magic into the world. Entering my fourth season as Artistic Director, I am filled with so much pride for both this incredible company and the community we call home.
