ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Ballet BC’s inaugural Spring Intensive offers a five-day intensive of skills-based classes designed to offer participants a deep dive into the practice of contemporary dance. 

The 2027 Spring Intensive will place a strong emphasis on the development of individual artistry. Participants will engage deeply with solo material drawn from Ballet BC’s acclaimed repertoire, offering a unique opportunity to explore the company’s distinctive choreographic languages. Through this process, dancers will be encouraged to cultivate a personal voice within the movement—developing not only technical precision but also a nuanced sense of expression, interpretation, and presence.

By working intimately with solos, dancers will gain insight into what it means to fully embody a role, make artistic choices, and shape a performance that reflects their individuality. The intensive will also explore concepts such as spatial awareness and emotional authenticity. Ultimately, this immersive experience is designed to empower dancers to connect more deeply with their work and to bring a heightened sense of self to the stage.
