Amillya Beech grew up in British Columbia, where she began her training at Pulse Dance Centre and later attended the Modus Operandi LINK Program. She went on to join Arts Umbrella Dance Company as a Pre-Grad and graduated from the AU/VCC Dance Diploma Program, as well as AUTour Dance Company. Amillya is grateful to have received the Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant (runner-up), along with Arts Umbrella Creative Launchpad scholarships.
During her time at Arts Umbrella, she worked with many choreographers, including Crystal Pite, Felix Landerer, Astrid Boons, Fernando Magadan, and Cyril Baldy, and performed works by William Forsythe, Sharon Eyal, Marco Goecke, and Marcos Morau. Concurrently, she also presented her own work in the Young Choreographers Showcase, “As People Part.”
In her final year, Amillya participated in the DansDagen Festival in the Netherlands. She also had the privilege of performing Frontier by Crystal Pite and BOLERO X by Shahar Binyamini in Vancouver, as well as touring across Germany and Luxembourg with Ballet BC. Inspired by the vibrant community around her, she is thrilled to now be a part of Ballet BC Annex.
