Director Arlene James

Born and raised in Vancouver, Arlene James is a lifelong volunteer who has immersed herself in the area of fundraising and public relations for over twenty years. She leaves a lasting, positive impact in every organization she serves.

Arlene is a founding member of JACS Vancouver, served as the Co-Chair of the Young Associates of the Vancouver Art Gallery and has sat on the Board of Directors of Richmond Family Place, Richmond Safe Communities Alliance, the Gateway Theatre, and the Women’s Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver. Arlene has also helped coordinate numerous major special events for various organizations in the Lower Mainland, including Canadian Friends of Hebrew University, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Richmond Hospital Foundation.

This multi-faceted engagement has allowed Arlene to build meaningful and strong relationships within the arts, health, social services, environmental, and legal communities.

Arlene holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and is a graduate of the Business Administration program from BCIT.  For work, Arlene James was also a licensed realtor and the Director of Arbex Holding/Arbex Capital Corporation, a specialized real estate and investment company, until her retirement a few years ago.

Arlene is a passionate supporter of the arts and believes that dance illuminates and connects us to our humanity.  She is honoured to be a member of the board of Ballet BC.  This is an incredible opportunity to coalesce her passion for the arts with the success of the company and its legacy.
