Kathy MacKenzie was appointed Managing Director of Ballet BC in September 2024. With over twenty years of experience in the not-for-profit performing arts sector, Kathy brings a robust blend of strategic leadership and resource development expertise. Originally from Toronto and a Vancouver resident since 2007, Kathy’s career is distinguished by her commitment to community engagement and organizational excellence.
Kathy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of British Columbia and subsequently completed a postgraduate certificate in Arts Administration and Cultural Management at Humber College. Her professional journey began as Communications Manager at the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres, followed by a role with the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, where she gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the performing arts community.
In 2007, Kathy relocated to Vancouver to join the Arts Club Theatre Company as Manager of Corporate Sponsorship and Foundations. Over the years, she advanced through various roles within the organization, leading the Fund Development Department from 2014 until her promotion to Managing Director in 2021.
Kathy also contributes to the broader community through her roles on the Board of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres and as a past Board President of NatureKids BC. She is appreciative of her life in North Vancouver, where she resides with her husband, John, and their three children.
