Each season, Ballet BC offers workshops to our local dance community – focusing on training and development opportunities for the professional dance artist. Hosted by international artists from across Canada and the world, these choreographic workshops explore diverse perspectives and approaches to the creative process, such as learning repertoire and training for contemporary dance.
Learn repertoire and explore the creative process at Ballet BC with Shahar Biniamini, who is assisting Ohad Naharin with Minus 16 in Program 3. Shahar will be teaching Gaga Technique in the workshop.
Shahar was born in Lod, Israel. He danced in Batsheva Ensemble from 2006-2008 and in Batsheva Dance Company from 2008-2013. Today, as an independent dancer and artist, Shahar creates artworks and dance works, shown in theatres and galleries all over the world. He is also a Gaga instructor, an assistant to Ohad Naharin, and teaches his works abroad. In 2013, along with Prof. Eitan Gros of the Weizmann institute, he founded the research group “Tnuda” that is composed of dancers, choreographers and scientists working together at the Weizmann Institute.
