2026/27 Season

Ballet BC and Royal Winnipeg Ballet invite dancers ages 7–15 (as of December 31, 2026) to audition for the 2026 production of Nutcracker.

Registration closes April 19, 2026. Auditions will take place on May 9, 2026. Successful dancers must be available for rehearsals and performances from early November through late December 2026.

Eligibility

  • Ages 7–15 as of December 31, 2026

  • Height between 3’8″ and 5’6″ (no exceptions)

  • Must not be members of CAEA, ACTRA, or any professional performing arts organization

Roles

3’8″ – 4’10″

  • Mounties – acting and basic dance/blocking

  • Mice – basic dance/blocking; must wear large headpieces

  • Polar Bears – basic dance/blocking; must wear headpieces

  • Dieter – acting and advanced dance steps

3’8″ – 4’11″

  • Party Children – acting and intermediate dance steps

  • Angels – acting and intermediate dance steps

5’0″ – 5’6″

  • Reindeer – advanced dance steps

How to apply

Complete the online registration form by April 19, 2026. A separate form must be submitted for each child auditioning.

Auditions

Auditions will be led by Ballet BC artistic staff, with support from Royal Winnipeg Ballet artistic staff.

Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026 (specific times will be shared closer to the date)
Location: Ballet BC, 1286 Cartwright Street, Granville Island, Vancouver, BC V6H 3R8

All dancers must bring a printed headshot to their audition.

Parents/guardians may not observe the audition. However, a parent or guardian must remain in the building, as audition groups may finish earlier than scheduled.
