We recommend arriving on Friday December 19 and flying out late on Tuesday or Wednesday. The session will run from 10am on Saturday the 20th to 5pm on Tuesday the 23rd.
Once our Winter Intensive dancers have been confirmed, we will create a private Facebook group for participating dancers to join and connect as they wish.
While dancers are expected to arrange their own accommodation, please contact classadmin@balletbc.com if you are having trouble, as we may be able to assist some dancers.
Granville Island is a thriving, vibrant artistic and cultural hub in the heart of Vancouver on False Creek. It’s a waterfront community with a bustling market, lots of great restaurants and food options, and retail shops. It is also home to a wide variety of artisans, galleries, and performing arts venues.
Granville Island is easily accessible by all forms of transit, including water taxis that operate frequently. The Granville Island Hotel is located adjacent to Ballet BC, just a few steps away. A map of the Island is located in the list of useful links at the bottom of this page.
The Ballet BC facility boasts four newly renovated studios, showers, and a fully-equipped kitchen all available for your use. Dancers will be responsible for providing their own meals.
The Winter Intensive takes place in early winter in Vancouver. You can expect cold weather with rain, and a chance of snow.
Yes! A variety of Ballet BC merchandise will be available to buy during the dancers’ lunch break for the duration of the Winter Intensive.
For cancellations prior to December 5th, participants will be issued a full refund. For cancellations between December 5th – and December 12th, participants will receive a 50% refund. For cancellations after December 12th, no refunds will be issued.
There is no final presentation for the Winter Intensive. Participants will learn solo repertoire from current Ballet BC company members but the focus of the intensive will be on the development of solo artistry.
