Congratulations Elizabeth Louie
Ballet BC is excited to announce the latest recipient of the Dancers of Today scholarship, Elizabeth Louie.
The Dancers of Today scholarship aims to provide greater access to dance education, with the ultimate goal of creating a path accessible to all communities to feed into our professional company. The scholarship, supported by the Y.P. Heung Foundation, will offer an aspiring dancer an opportunity to further their training through the Arts Umbrella Dance program, with preference given to applicants from underrepresented communities.
Dancers of Today recipients are aged 12 and above and exhibit exceptional talent and commitment to the field of dance. Ballet BC covers 100% of tuition and related fees for a minimum of one student to attend the dance program at Arts Umbrella for at least six years.
Elizabeth Louie was born in Vancouver, BC. After completing her high school studies, she joined the Arts Umbrella Graduate Dance program under the direction and mentorship of Artemis Gordon, Sabra Perry, and Lynn Shepard. During her time at Arts Umbrella, Elizabeth has been fortunate to work with and perform works by Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke, William Forsythe, Eric Beauschesne, Fernando Hernando Magadan, Kidd Pivot, Mats Ek, and Azsure Barton, among many others.
She has participated in the Young Choreographers Mentorship program under the guidance of Crystal Pite, and is currently participating in Ballet BC’s Annex program, which provides pre-professional dancers the opportunity to gain professional creation and touring experience. The Ballet BC Annex program will offer performances and workshops at selects schools and venues across British Columbia in fall 2024.
Congratulations, Elizabeth!
